Why Lift?

Mind, body, and spirit are one. Each of these elements are intertwined with each other and influence each other. In modern society, especially the modern education system, too much emphasis is given to the mind, too little to the body, and none at all to the spirit. The result is incomplete human beings who don’t realize their life potential.

Lifting weights develops more than just the body, it also develops the mind and spirit. Our bodies are intimately linked with our mental state and our emotions. Healthy behaviors and ways of thinking come naturally to those in a physically healthy state. Those in good health generally feel better, happier, and more confident, and that influences our actions and outlook on life in a positive manner.

Weight training also develops your spirit. It develops discipline, persistence, strength of will, and many other positive character traits that have a major impact on your life. These character traits contribute to your success, perhaps even more than raw intelligence/talent, for the world is full of smart and talented people who don’t get far in life because at the end of the day it is your actions and results that matter, not simply your abilities.

Of course, developing your body is great in itself, and is the reason most people work out. You’ll become healthier, stronger, and more beautiful. Your health is your wealth and will have an impact on your quality (and quantity) of life. Strength is great practically, and will allow you to defend yourself and also deter those who are out to harm, for they will look for easier targets. Beauty is inherently valuable. It also helps socially as people judge by appearance, whether consciously or unconsciously. There is a reason people dress up for interviews. It also makes you more attractive, and there is no substitute for raw sexual attraction.
