Why I Am Blogging

Greetings from London!  I have started a blog!

Since I started an Instagram about a year ago, I have been sharing my travel experiences and received very positive responses from people all over the world.  People sent me countless messages and comments about how they were inspired to visit the places I went to, and how much they enjoyed seeing the world through my Instagram stories and posts.

But images and short videos can only go so far in showing what a place is like, so I want to write about the places I visit as well and describe the cultures I experience, the people I meet, and share my thoughts.  Plus, writing about my travel experiences helps me remember them better so I can more easily revisit my adventures whenever I’m having a moment of nostalgia.

Traveling is only one of my passions, although a big one.  I’m also an avid reader and want to share that side of me as well.  Books add value to my life because they stimulate my ideas and creativity, and I learn a lot from them.  Writing about my readings gets me to think more deeply and thoroughly on what I have read.  There are many lessons and ideas you can take away from books, and I want to share them and inspire people to read and learn more.

In today’s world, reading is a declining pastime as television and newer forms of media take up more of people’s attention.  This is an unfortunate development because it is scientifically proven that reading is healthier and far more stimulating for your brain than consuming TV shows or movies.  In fact, there have been studies showing that watching too much TV lowers your IQ!  However, I’m all about self-improvement, so I feel good about promoting activities that are beneficial for people.

Which leads me to another topic I want to write about: self-improvement.  I believe that people are not static individuals but dynamic human beings who are constantly learning and developing.  I personally strive to become a greater and greater version of myself, and writing about self-improvement motivates me to do so and inspires others to do the same.

I am also passionate about improving humanity as a whole, and I believe that technological advancement pushes the human race forward.  If you think about it, humans started off as cavemen but with our inventions and ingenuity we have become masters of this planet.  There is no doubt that technology has dramatically improved the standard of living of the human race.  A few hundred years ago, most of humanity lived in poverty, mostly struggling to survive with subsistence farming, hunting, or herding.  Life expectancy hovered around the 30’s and 40’s, travel was limited, and only very few were able to afford luxuries like education, clean clothes, music, entertainment, etc.  Now we live in a world where a very small number of farmers are able to produce enough food to feed billions of people, where better sanitation and medical advances have pushed the life expectancy to the 80’s in the most advanced countries, where people can travel to distant parts of the world in only a few hours by plane, and where all the “luxuries” I mentioned above are widely available. We have smartphones that can communicate with people all over the world, look up information anytime we want, and tell someone to bring us food or give us a ride at our convenience.

Writing about technology helps me process my ideas, and spread interesting new developments.  I am also hoping to attract like-minded people.  I am an investor and venture capitalist and am open to hearing about business ideas that my readers may have, especially if it involves disruptive technology.

Lastly, my blog is a platform where I can share my thoughts and opinions, and sometimes I will do so when I got something to say.
